Julie Feider is a wife and mother of two boys; now young men in their 20’s. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor working as a Mental Health Clinician at ThedaCare Behavior Health in Menasha. Julie works with people struggling with a number of mental health issues related to trauma, depression and anxiety disorders. Working in the mental health field can be stressful at times, and Julie creates balance in her life by spending time outside in nature, especially in her flower gardens.
She began taking pictures a few years ago, after purchasing a new camera. A novice photographer, Julie enjoys being out in nature capturing the beauty and delicacy of flowers and peaceful feelings of the landscape. Since moving to the north side of Lake Winnebago in 2011, the ever-changing colors of sunrises and sunsets and the constant movement of water is what inspires her desire to capture the beauty in photography.
Soon after purchasing her camera, Julie walked out to the mailbox one day to retrieve that day’s mail. There was something in her flowerbed around the mailbox that caught her eye, so she looked down to see one of her daisy’s smiling up at her! She couldn’t believe it, and simply knew she had to get a photo of this wonderful phenomenon.
“Smiling Daisy” is the result of two daisy heads growing together to create a smile. The photo has never been photo-shopped, chopped or altered in any way. It is an authentic gift from nature. –Enjoy!
