My client posted these family pictures on her facebook page, as I glanced over them, I began to remember the first time I met the Burton Family. I had just started doing hair in downtown Appleton on College Avenue. I moved from Stevens Point, my hometown, to the big city. I was young, not married, no kids and was excited to do hair and be a part of the fashion industry.
Approximately 9 years later, owning my own salon on College Avenue, I can still say I absolutely love what I do. Now married with 3 children, if someone would ask me “Why do you do hair”. It is not just only about fashion anymore, my career as a hairdresser has taken on a whole new meaning. Just like the Burton family, and many of my existing clients, it is not just a “haircut” service. It is a friendship, lasting relationship, a joy, a laugh, a cry, a hug. I have gained inspirations, hope, fulfillment and happiness from them all.
It is hard for me to fathom when people dislike their jobs. Mine provides me the opportunity to be creative and with so many added “bonuses” along the way. It is amazing to me how we are all truly interconnected and life is about building connections-building lasting client relationships. Thank you, Burton Family for reminding me ”the gifts” that are presented to me everyday while in the life as a “hairdresser”. -Tracey Drews
My Life Is about My Relationships… You will never find yourself in a point in time when the subject of relationships is not an active part of your now experience, for everything you perceive or notice or know is because of your relationship with something else. Without a comparative experience, you would be unable to perceive or focus any kind of understanding within yourself. Therefore, it is accurate to say that without relationships you could not exist at all. – Abraham Hicks

Very thoughtfully said. Life is so about relationships and doing what you love and loving what you do.
Nicely done!
